Room&Board – Chicago

A FACADE RENOVATION AND INTERIOR RECONSTRUCTION OF THE FORMER DISNEYQUEST BUILDING, TO ACCOMMODATE 107,000 SF OF A RETAIL AND OFFICE SPACE WITHIN THE EXISTING FIVE-STORY STRUCTURE

This retailer of contemporary and retrospective furniture recognized an opportunity for a street level identity near Chicago’s Magnificent Mile and capitalized on it. With thoughtful precision, two exterior balconies were recessed into the existing building, and its facade was re-clad with aluminum panels to create an architectural aesthetic reflective of the furniture contained within. By exposing the store’s interiors to the street and populating the balconies with outdoor furniture and interested shoppers, the finished store has enlivened the streetscape and raised Room&Board’s exposure immensely.
