A 20,000 SF, MIXED-USE BUILDING ON AN IN-TOWN SITE
From the start, the building program envisioned offices on the 2nd floor and a restaurant on the 1st floor, which helped determine the organization of this structure. The main entrance was places strategically, bisecting the building and allowing for generous ground floor spaces on both sides of the lobby. A series of smaller shops populated one side with street frontage facing the retail center of town, while the restaurant took the larger side with direct access to the parking lot and great visibility from an adjacent, heavily-trafficked street. The building’s style reflects traditional influences, executed with a contemporary approach. To address a formal architectural issue on this trapezoidal corner site, a rotunda shape was created to work like a hinge and help negotiate and resolve opposing geometries.
