A 3,200 SF Retail Flagship in Chicago’s Gold Coast.
AWAY Travel is a global lifestyle brand that designs thoughtful objects to make traveling more seamless. As a successful direct to consumer retailer of luggage and travel accessories, physical stores are a much needed component of their overall merchandising strategy.
ARCHIDEAS originally designed the shell retail building at State & Cedar in Chicago that AWAY Travel had leased space in, so we were the natural choice to provide architectural services for this Tenant. AWAY Travel was fortunate to be able to design the storefront as well as the interiors of this corner space, so they capitalized on this opportunity and enthusiastically collaborated with ARCHIDEAS to convey their brand identity both inside and out.
Using premium materials that are resilient and beautiful, the resulting look and feel of their Showroom conveys an enduring level of quality that is consistent with AWAY Travel’s other brick and mortar locations. The thoughtful selection of the store’s corner position also yielded several additional benefits. This location not only visually anchors the building overall, but it also serves as a beacon within the surrounding urban space that’s formed by the confluence of intersecting streets just beyond AWAY Travel’s doorstep.
The 1,000 SF main floor Showroom is a lofty, singular display space that is supported by a lower level Storeroom and Employee Office area. A dumbwaiter links the Showroom and the Storeroom below, facilitating swift product access for a seamless customer experience.
